Year 9 Options 2026
A Broad and Inspiring Curriculum
We are proud to offer a diverse range of option subjects that enable students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and prepare our students for the future. In Key Stage 4, students select three option subjects to study alongside their core curriculum, allowing them to personalise their learning and pursue areas they are passionate about.
Students can choose from a wide variety of subjects, including Art, ICT, Computer Science, Food and Nutrition, Business Studies, Textiles, Drama, Music, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology, History, Geography, Triple Science, French, and Sports Studies.
Our extensive curriculum provides opportunities for students to develop creativity, critical thinking, practical skills and academic knowledge. Whether students are passionate about the arts, humanities, sciences, languages, sport or social sciences, there is something to inspire every learner and support their ambitions for further education and future careers.
By offering such a broad range of subjects, we empower students to make informed choices that reflect their strengths, interests and aspirations.
The Options Process
The Key Stage 4 options process begins in January with assemblies designed to introduce students to the subjects available and support them in making informed decisions. In March, we hold an Options Evening where students and their families can meet subject leaders, explore the courses on offer and learn more about the content and assessment of each subject. Following this event, students make their selections by choosing one subject from each of three option categories, as well as two reserve choices from each category.
