Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls Celebrates Outstanding GCSE Success!

Today we celebrate the achievements of our students with our second round of GCSE results. Once again, we are very proud of how our students have exceeded expectations in a number of subject areas.

We have achieved excellent outcomes again this year in English with over 81% achieving a strong pass at Grade 5 in GCSE English Literature and 30% at Grade 7 and above. Other standout achievements include 46% of students achieving Grade 7 and above in GCSE Citizenship and 43% of students achieving Grade 7 and above in GCSE French.

Whilst there is no P8 measure this year, our results analysis shows that we are once again above national performance with 70% of students achieving 4+ in GCSE Maths and 78% in GCSE English Language and 90% in English in GCSE English Literature.

Our continued drive for excellence and high achievement is reflected again this year in the achievements of some of our highest performing students.

A Message from the CEO - Celebrating GCSE Results Across PolyMAT

Today marks a proud moment for our Trust as we celebrate GCSE Results Day across both Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys and Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls.

This is a day to recognise the hard work, resilience, and achievements of our students, and to thank our dedicated staff and supportive families who have helped guide them to this milestone.

To every student receiving their results today: we are incredibly proud of you. Your commitment and determination have brought you here, and we look forward to seeing where your journey takes you next.

We are especially excited to welcome students from Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls into Woolwich Polytechnic Sixth Form for the second year running. We are also thrilled that so many of our students are choosing to enrol at our outstanding Sixth Form, where they will benefit from expert teaching, tailored support, and a vibrant learning environment that prepares them for university, apprenticeships, and beyond. This follows last week’s fantastic A Level results, where 80% of grades achieved were A*– C - a testament to the quality of education and support our Sixth Form provides.

To our staff: thank you for your unwavering dedication. These results reflect your passion and the strength of our school communities.

Let’s celebrate this moment together, across both schools and as one Trust.

Mr Tim Plumb
