FIRST Tech Challenge QT at WPSfG – A Fantastic Day of Innovation and Teamwork

On Saturday 28th February, the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Qualifying Tournament was proudly hosted at WPG a Champion.org, bringing together young innovators from across the region for an inspiring day of robotics, collaboration and competition.

The event welcomed 12 schools and approximately 100 students and staff, all coming together to celebrate STEM excellence and competitive spirit.

We were delighted to have one team representing Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys and two teams representing Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls.

All three teams competed exceptionally well, demonstrating technical skill, resilience, teamwork and determination throughout the tournament. We are incredibly proud of every team member for their hard work and commitment.

A huge congratulations to the Girls’ School team for winning the prestigious Reach Award.

We would also like to recognise the outstanding girls who volunteered to serve customers in the tuck shop and also supported the FTC event. From preparing teams for inspection to managing pit queues and ensuring everything ran smoothly, their contribution was invaluable to the success of the day.

Events like the FTC Qualifier highlight the power of teamwork, innovation and opportunity. The energy, enthusiasm and sportsmanship shown by all students made the tournament a true success. We are extremely proud of staff and students involved and look forward to even more achievements ahead.
