  • Message for parents/carers: Knife Crime

    Published 28/09/23

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I'm sure you are all aware of the death of a young lady in Croydon yesterday. She was stabbed to death on her way to school.

I'm sure you agree we all need to work together to stop our young people feeling that they need or want to carry a knife.

In school, we have lessons, conversations and assemblies on the topic. The School Police Officer also addresses students.

I have attached a leaflet from the Ben Kinsella Charity, that outlines how to have conversations as parents.

Please get in touch if we can help in any way.

  • Jeans for Genes - Friday 22nd September 2023

    Published 20/09/23

    Dear Parents/Carers,

WPSfG will be taking part in this year’s Jeans for Genes Day on Friday 22nd September.

1 in 25 children has a genetic disorder that makes their life very difficult. That’s like one in every class. By wearing our jeans and donating, we will change the lives of these children.

All children and staff are invited to wear their jeans on Friday 22nd September. We’d like everyone to take part so please encourage your child to come into school on the day wearing their jeans and with a £1 donation.  We expect students to simply swap their usual skirt or trousers for jeans, they must still wear the rest of their school uniform (shirt, tie, blazer and shoes).  Jeans also need to be neat and suitable for school with no tears, rips or emblems.

We will sharing information with students throughout the week so that they have an understanding of how important it is for us to take part and support this cause.

Jeans for Genes Day have a series of powerful films to explain how your child’s donation will make a difference. Each film provides a compelling and personal insight, introducing some amazing children living with genetic disorders, sharing first-hand what life is like with their condition. Please visit jeansforgenes.org/schools for more information and to view these films.

If you’d like to find out more about how our support will help, please visit their website at jeansforgenes.org

    Thank you,

    The WPSfG team
