Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls (WPG) is delighted to announce another exceptional set of GCSE results for 2026, marking the third consecutive year of strong academic success and reinforcing the school's commitment to excellence, aspiration, and achievement.

In a national landscape that continues to evolve following post-pandemic adjustments, WPSfG students have once again risen to the challenge, delivering results that reflect their determination, resilience, and hard work, alongside the unwavering dedication of staff and support from families.

This year's results highlight outstanding achievement across a wide range of subjects, with particularly impressive outcomes in English, Mathematics, Science and French.

Key highlights include:

  • 75% of students achieved a strong pass (Grade 5+) in GCSE English
  • GCSE Mathematics success surges, with increased numbers of students achieving high Grades 6+ and 7+
  • 38% of students achieved Grade 7 or above in English
  • 74% achieved Grade 7+, 53% Grade 8+ in GCSE Chemistry
  • 58% achieved Grade 7 or above, 37% Grade 8+ in GCSE French
  • 57% achieved Grade 6+ in Citizenship
  • 51% achieved Grade 6+ in Geography

Although Progress 8 measures are not being published this year, the school's internal analysis demonstrates continued strong progress and achievement across the cohort, with students consistently performing above expectations.

The results reflect WPG's continued focus on high standards, inclusion and ensuring every student can fulfil their potential. Across the year group, students secured excellent grades, with many achieving outcomes significantly above national expectations.
